CESC MAY LEAVE

Despite moving to his boyhood club Barcelona only recently, it has been claimed that midfielder Cesc Fabregas may leave the club in the summer. The Spaniard has not been getting regular game time at the camp Nou, while even when he plays, people have been critical of him. Fabregas started out as a midfielder, but he was converted into a second striker by Arsenal during his final years at the Emirates stadium. It proved to be a master stroke from Arsene Wenger because he was able to get the best out of Fabregas in all forms.

The 25-year-old managed to find a goalscoring ability to his game as well. However, he has been playing in a free role at Barcelona, which seems to have restricted his game. He was brought in by former manager Guardiola, and there have been suggestions that current manager Tito Vilanova does not see him as a first-team regular. Instead, he has been working away to fit Fabregas into the team rather than the midfielder gelling into the team.

Wenger believes that the lack of regular game time is affecting the former Arsenal man, who is used to playing on the regular level. He says that Fabregas is being caught in a vicious circle that could see him leave Barcelona if something is not done.

“I think at the moment he’s lacking the confidence of being a regular player – recently he has not been that. Cesc is such a passionate player, a player of such quality, that it must hurt him not to play in every single game. That’s what he misses. When you come in and out you never play with full confidence,” said Wenger. Fabregas is thought to have a buyback clause in his contract, which will allow him to return to Arsenal for around £ 25 million.
