Barcelona’s target Memphis Depay has confirmed via an announcement that he will be leaving his current club Olympique Lyon at the end of this current season after spending a few seasons at the French Ligue 1 club. The former Manchester United winger, who had a failed spell at Old Trafford has long been linked with a move to the Camp Nou since last summer and was only not able to seal the move because Barca failed to meet Lyon’s asking price for the attacker.
Depay joining Barcelona would see him reunite with Koeman under whom he played for at the Netherlands national team. The brilliant attacker has been in sensational form for Lyon this season and has hit double figures for both goals and assists for the third consecutive time at the club.
He was reported to be hunting for a house he wants to purchase in Spain, a report that further fuelled the speculations of his possible move to Barca. The Spanish club reportedly already have an agreement in principle with departing Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero which will see the Argentina international forward pen a fresh two-year deal at the club but he reportedly will not be the only new face at the club this summer.
Depay loves the idea of joining Barcelona and is already looking forward to working under Koeman once again as he already has a healthy relationship with the former Everton manager.
